About iGugu Trust
IGugu trust was formed in Zimbabwe in the year 2017 to encourage care and well-being for communities and all living systems, and for the soil by providing trainings to Hwange Communal Lands and other organizations on regeneration. We dream of healthy landscapes, and communities that are proud of their roots, deeply connected to their source of life, soil health, food and seed systems sovereignty, human health, climate health and economic viability. The name IGugu means Treasure- because where your treasure is, there your heart is also.
Our work ethic is that of partnering with the communities we serve, co-creating a Holistic process which is able to see transformative work coming to life. To accelerate impact and to enable their operations to become viable and resilient, always moving from a scarcity mindset to abundance
We have learnt and are excited about the potential to regenerate degraded landscapes by using a variety of regenerative tools. We also have a rare opportunity as humans; that is to be able to work together with nature, to change the narrative of degraded landscapes and all life that depends on them.
The body of knowledge and efforts being applied across the world are a true blessing, and a continuous voice that calls "keep going".(Precious Phiri)
"Ultimately, the only wealth that can sustain any community, economy or nation is
derived from the photosynthetic process- green plants growing on regenerating soil"
Allan Savory
Our Work Ethos
Our Actions are guided by regenerative designs of Holistic management.
Our main focus is building resilience and regenerative norms.
The spirit which frames our work is that of partnerships with the communities we serve and collaboration with those whose support we need.
We understand that our role differs at different stages of the projects being implemented and we assume a flexible role of engagement.
We deeply value collaboration and cross sharing with other stakeholders, so that our work has a bigger impact and global relevance.
We co-create programs and processes together with the communities we serve. This enables communities to participate in planning, execution, continuous evaluation and redesigning of the programs.
